The Mexicans usually have a different name for the dried variety of chilli over its fresh counterpart. A dried Poblano chilli is an Ancho chilli and a dried Jalapeno that's been smoked is a Chipotle Morita. There is another type of Chipotle which is a Chipotle Meco, but the Chipotle Morita is the most popular for flavour.
These dried chillis are amazing in marinades, stews - you can grind them up for fantastic chili powder, soaking them in warm water makes them a little easier to chop up.
