Don Bocarte Organic anchovies have an extraordinary taste and texture. They are caught in the Bay of Biscay only during the months of April, May and June - it's at this time when the fish have the most fat content giving them the best flavour.
Don Bocarte then have a meticulous curing and preserving process, they are salted and arranged in barrels where they are pressed and left to mature for 8 months in temperature controlled conditions. They are then cleaned and filleted by hand by a skilled team before being canned in organic extra virgin olive oil.
Don Bocarte anchovies taste so good, it's best just to enjoy them with some good bread and a glass of something chilled!
These anchovies are semi cured and need to be stored in the fridge.
Allergens: FISH
Ingredients: Cantabrian anchovies, organic extra virgin olive oil, salt

All the SF and ingredients are curated by Ben and Alice - don’t expect a choice of six different brands of sesame oil (say), expect the one Ben loves and that’s on the shelf in his own kitchen. So many of the items stocked have a story behind them. The recipes on the site are well worth a look - achievable recipes for a busy life that deliver big on flavour. My favourites are the different White Mausu sauces - give everything a good bit of zing, the Don Bicarte Anchovies and of course Tajin.
Nothing but praise for this service. Recipients of the gift boxes were over the moon - carefully curated and presented - a big win
Thank you so much Max - that's really heartwarming to hear. We spent a long time pulling our Somerset Foodie Gift boxes together, carefully curating the ingredients and choosing the books. Only the best from Ben! Really appreciate your kind words. Thanks for being a fab customer.
This is a must try product. In the past I have never been a fan of aubergine but after trying this product at one of Somerset Foodie’s tasting events I’m hooked. I’m now on my 5th jar. Just follow Ben’s recipe and you’ll have a truly delicious and light snack. 5 stars all the way.
Ahh - thanks Paul! That's great to read. We absolutely love making babaganoush with this aubergine puree too. Thanks for taking the time to write a review - it is always so much appreciated. See you guys again soon. Ben and Alice x
Hey Alice, these anchovies are delicous. Juicy and plumb, not too sharp, just the right balance. I had them on a slice of fresh rye bread. So good! If you like sardines, herring, etc... this is for you. And if you live near Bradford-on-Avon, get your rye bread from Pipit.
Fab! Glad you like them as much as we do. We love the three-ingredient sourdough from our friend Joe at the Village Baking Company about 1 minute bike ride away from us here in Rode. Thank you for taking the time to send us feedback, we really appreciate it. See you again soon, Ben and Alice
