Originating from the Sichuan region of China, Chilli Bean Sauce (known as Toban Djan or sometimes spelt Doubanjiang) is a pungent blend of salted chilli peppers, soybeans and broad beans. It's an essential ingredient for classic Chinese dishes such as Kung Pao Chicken but it's great to add a couple a tablespoons into any meat or vegetable stir fry.

First time I’ve used this in my cooking albeit it’s called for in plenty of my recipes. Gave a gentle lift of heat to the dish without overpowering. Two teaspoons in a dish for four is all it took so this jar will make a fair few dishes. Great product and great taste.

We had these olives at a tapas restaurant in Manchester... they are so delicious that we tracked them down online and ordered them for home!
Add a few sliced mushrooms, a handful of homegrown swiss chard, and thin Chinese noodle to the soup, with a drizzle of sesame oil and the chili oil, chopped spring onion and cilantro..My! Oh! My! Back streets of anywhere in Asia…gorgeous! Thank you for your well stocked shop making a fabulous breakfast!
