Malaysia by Ping Coombes Ingredients Set with Book

We are all really lucky to have the supremely talented Ping Coombes on our doorstep here in Rode. Ping won the BBC MasterChef title in 2014 and has gone on to run fantastic supper clubs, a cookery school and makes delicious take-home meals Ping at Home. 

Ping was brought up in Malaysia and she has written this gorgeous book that features over 100 recipes from the delicious family meals she enjoyed from her childhood. Ping's passion for Malaysian food is evident and these recipes will give you are real sense of the spicy, tangy, aromatic and fragrance of Malaysian cuisine.

Ping's authentic recipes feature some ingredients that will need hunting out, however, many of these hard to find ingredients can be found here in our online store or in our warehouse shop. We have put together a starter kit of ingredients to go with the book that will allow you to cook one of Ping's favourite recipes, 'Hakke Mee' - Minced Pork with coriander and fish sauce noodles. It's a really simple recipe that tastes amazing and is the perfect way to start you on your Malaysian cooking adventure.

• Malaysia by Ping Coombes
• Pearl River Bridge Light Soy Sauce, 500ml
  Light soy sauce is used throughout this book and the Pearl River brand is Ping's favourite brand.
• Habhal's Kecap Manis, 345ml
  This is thicker and sweeter than light soy and used extensively in Malaysian cooking, Ping uses it to balance out the saltiness of light soy and uses it in lots of her recipes.
• Lee Kum Kee's Oyster Sauce, 510g
  Used a lot by Ping in these recipes, this sauce is a classic seasoning made from extracts of oysters.
• Tiparos Asian Fish Sauce, 300ml
  Fish sauce is made from extracts of anchovies and it's a great seasoning to add umami flavours to your dishes.
• Sau Tao Noodles, 454g
  Good quality noodles are essential in many of Ping's recipes and Sau Tao is an excellent brand.
