Saint C Calamansi Extract is a concentrated, all-natural juice made from calamansi grown and hand-picked in the Philippines, with no added sugar. Calamansi is a small, round citrus fruit about the size of a large marble, thought to be a cross between a mandarin and a kumquat. It’s the everyday citrus of Filipino cooking, squeezed over almost everything. The flavour sits somewhere between a lime and a mandarin: sharp and properly sour, with a fragrant, floral orange note that lime alone doesn’t have.

Use it anywhere you’d reach for lemon or lime juice, and it’ll bring something a little more interesting. Mix it with soy sauce, chilli and garlic for toyomansi, the classic Filipino dipping sauce for grilled pork, fried fish or spring rolls. Splash it into a marinade for chicken thighs, or whisk it into a dressing for a crunchy slaw. It’s lovely in drinks too - stirred into sparkling water with a little honey, or shaken into a margarita in place of lime. Because it’s concentrated, a little goes a long way.

Why we love it:

  • Made from calamansi grown and hand-picked in the Philippines, where it’s the everyday kitchen citrus
  • A flavour you can’t get from lemons or limes - sour and bright, with a floral mandarin perfume
  • No added sugar, so it works just as well in savoury cooking as in drinks and desserts
  • Concentrated, so one bottle goes a long way and there’s no squeezing tiny fruit by hand

How to use:

Use it anywhere you’d reach for lemon or lime juice, and it’ll bring something a little more interesting. Mix it with soy sauce, chilli and garlic for toyomansi, the classic Filipino dipping sauce for grilled pork, fried fish or spring rolls, or splash it into a marinade for chicken thighs. It’s brilliant in desserts too - a calamansi cheesecake, a zingy curd or a drizzle over a lemon cake. For drinks, add a little sweetening and stir it into sparkling water, or shake it into a margarita in place of lime. Because it’s concentrated, a little goes a long way.
