Beans form part of the corner stones of Mexican cuisine. The Maya diet was based around maize, squashes and beans (three sisters agriculture). The corn would provide the structure for the climbing beans to grow up.
Beans still play a massive part of Mexican cuisine and these black beans are brilliant for making your own refried beans or simply added to bean salads, used in tacos or in stews.
