Chicharrón is a snack made from deep-fried pork skin, known for its light, crunchy texture and savoury, salty flavour. A staple in Mexican cuisine (plus some areas of South East Asia), Chicharrón is enjoyed across the country.
They are fantastic as a crispy bar snack, paired with fresh lime and hot sauce for a classic street food experience but they make a fantastic garnish when crumbled over tacos or loaded into tortas. They are also the key ingredient of the Mexican dish Chicharrón en Salsa where they are simmered in either salsa roja or verde for a comforting, home-style stew.
