Kala Chana are simply black chickpeas - chana is the Indian word for chickpea and kala means black. They are extremely popular in Indian cuisine and used to make the famous black chickpea curry.
Like their yellow cousins, these black chickpeas require soaking overnight in cold water. They will then require 1-1.5 hours to cook.
