El Barco Delice is a classic Spanish drinking chocolate that is totally different to the way hot chocolate is generally served here in the UK. Known in Spain as chocolate a la taza, it's thick, velvety smooth, and intensely chocolatey – perfect for cozy evenings or an authentic Spanish breakfast treat.
Spain was the route through which chocolate first entered Europe (most likely through their connections with Mexico) and they have centuries of accumulated knowledge of the best chocolate. Very often Spanish drinking chocolate is served with churros or toasted bread.
How to Prepare: Mix 3-4 tablespoons (approx. 50g) of El Barco with 250ml of milk. Stir continuously over a medium heat until thickened. Serve hot.
